Born on 1st of July in Calcutta, West Bengal, India
An ARTISTE - a dancer, a dance choreographer, a singer, a painter, an actress, a sports person, an administrator, an event organiser and an Artistic Director
Since 1976,she received her first dance initiation from Smt Minati Biswas, a diploma holder on Indian Folk Dances.
In 1983, she got her first training on ‘Creative Dance’ from late Guru Shri Shadhan Guho, a very well reputed disciple of Uday Shankar in Calcutta.
From 1985 till 1990, she received training in Bharatanatyam classical style with Guruji Anu Ben and Guruji Mamta Ben at Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education (SAICE), Pondicherry.
From 1990 till 1991, she learnt the basics of Oddisi Classical Style with Guruji
Madhusmita in SAICE, Pondicherry.
While learning the above classical styles throughout those years she had also mastered over several Indian Folk Dances and Rabindranath Tagore’s (Bengali) dance style.
She is an “A”
grade certificate holder of professionally qualified dancer in the dance form
of Indian Contemporary Dance style - derived from ‘Uday Shankar’s Creative Dance’, from Uday Shankar’s Academy of
Creative Dance in New Delhi, India.

February 2000 – Visited Ireland as a Dance Facilitator to teach Indian Dance for the St. Patrick Day’s Carnival.
March 4th & 10th 2000 – Performed with Kadam in Luton and also performed for International Women’s Day Celebration.
March 25, 2000 – Performed with Chaturang, Liverpool for ‘Disha III’.
March 2000 – Gave dance workshops at Bright Spark School and at Carol Straker Dance Foundation.
April / May 2000 – Performed with Tranushree Shankar’s Troupe in New Delhi, India at the Airforce Base and at Satya Sai International.
July 2000 – Performed with ‘Nrityakala’ in the Barnet Council’s Environment Week Celebration in ‘Mother Earth’.
August 12th and 13th 2000 – Performed with ‘Akademi for South Asian Dancers’ in the open-air performance ‘Coming of Age’ at The Royal Festival Hall.
September 2000 – Performed in ‘Barging In’ at Liverpool organised by Merseyside Dance Initiative.
October 2000 – Performed at ‘Victoria and Albert Museum Auditorium’ to celebrate the Indian Festival ‘Deewali’.
November 2000 – Performed for ‘Chaturang’ in Manchester.
November 2000 – Performed a Dance sequence with an amateur drama company called Stage Two’s production of a musical comedy ‘Salad Days’ for 5 nights at Pinner Methodist Church – a charity show.
December 2000 – Performed at High Barnet for the launch of ‘CRY’ – a charity show.
February 17th 2001 – Performed with ‘Nrityakala’ at The Bull, High Barnet, ‘ Mother Earth’.
March 30th 2001 – Performed with ‘Chaturang’ for Disha IV in Liverpool.
June 2nd 2001 – Performed at Victoria Embankment Gardens organised by Dance Initiative.
July 20th 2001 – Performed at Rugby for Medical Conference.
August 4th 2001 – Choreographed and directed a dance number for 6dancers to perform at Quest Theatre in Ealing.
September 25th 2001 – Organised and performed in a show to celebrate Birth Centenary of Uday Shankar at Nehru Centre in London, UK.
October 6th & 7th 2001 – Performed at Trafford Centre, Manchester, organised by Fusion in Manchester.
November 18th 2001 – Performed in Deewali Celebration at Sheffield Asian Community Centre, Sheffield.
January 26th 2002 – Performed in Dundee, Scotland, celebrating India’s Republic Day, organised by Bharatiya Bhavan, Dundee, Scotland.
March 23rd & 24th 2002 – Dance advice for the facilitators for MDI Showcase – Exchange Flags Weekend, Liverpool.
June 29th 2002 – Performed at Manchester Metropolitan University, Chandalika, a dance drama by Rabindranath Tagore.
July 6th 2002 – Performed at Hammersmith Community Indian Festival organised by Hammersmith Community Gardens Association.
July 13th 2002 – Performed at Commonwealth Institute, the leading male role in ‘Shyama’, a dance drama by Rabindranath Tagore, organised by Nupur School of Dance.
August 10th & 11th 2002 – Performed at St. George’s in Liverpool, organised by MDI.
August 17th 2002 – Performed at the Atlantic College in St. Donats, Cardiff, Wales in the Inter-Faith Conference.
January 6th 2003 – Performed in Resolution!2003 at the Robin Howard Dance Theatre – ‘Femme Fatale’.
February 7th 2003 - Performed at Gulbenkian Theatre, University of Kent, Canterbury, in collaboration with Shivanova Orchestra.
February 22nd 2003 - Performed at Cranleigh Arts Centre, Crealeigh in collaboration with Shivanova Orchestra and also on June 28th 2003 at Folkstone Amphitheatre.
July 5th 2003 – Performed with Rabishikha in a musical ‘Maya’ at Bloomsbury Theatre, Euston.
July 12th 2003 – Performed in ‘Chandalika’ a Tagore’s Musical at Sheffield Community Centre.
July 13th 2003 – Performed at Trafalgar Square celebrating the opening of the new steps.
August 9th 2003 – Conducted Indian Contemporary Dance Workshop and Performed at Atlantic University in Wales for Interfaith Conference 2003.
January 31st 2004 - "Transdicionale..." At Robin Howard Dance Theatre, The Place, Duke's Road, Resolution!2004 (Evolution)
February 21st 2004 - Performance in Blackpool, world dance festival.
March 20th 2004 - Performance in Liverpool. (private function)
April 17th 2004 - Performance in collaboration with Shivanova in University of Southampton, Highfield Road, Southampton SO17 1BJ. It is a joint promotion with Arts Asia.
August 14th 2004 - Workshop and Performance at Atlantic University in Wales, attending the Religious Conference. Participants: Kalithasan, Bisakha and Sangeeta.
November 7th 2004 - One hour Deewali Show in Peterlee near Durham.
May 1st 2005 ( Sunday) - 'CHANDALIKA' - A dance drama of Rabindra Nath Tagore. This is a performance at a private function organised by Noth East England Bengali Doctor's Association (NEEBDA) at Garibaldi College, Garibaldi Road, Forest Town, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG19 OJX.

From 1994 till 1997, she was an executive member of the Bengal Association in Pondicherry holding the post of the Cultural Secretary organising and directing and also taking part in several cultural events.
From October 1996 till September 1998, she was selected as an ‘A’ Grade Dancer
with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting of India and she has performed folk and traditional and Creative Dances at various places in South
India during that period.
Since January 1998, she has been chosen as the Deputy Secretary General with International Institute
of Perfect Arts (IIPA) in New Delhi, India, and apart from organising shows
she has also performed on behalf of this institute since then.
She is been chosen to co-ordinate performances, workshops, classes and training programmes for Creative Dance Limited since the year 2000.

Music – She sings with accompaniment of Harmonium or
Tanpura, modern, folk and semi-classical songs in various languages and also hymns and
‘shlokas’ in Sanskrit. She has
received training
from the age of 7 on Hindustani Classical Vocal Music from ‘Sangeet Visharad’ Shri Deepak Kanti Das, and
from Smt. Deepa, diploma holder of Hindustani
classical vocal music from Rabindra Vishwabharati, Calcutta.
Commercial
/ Fine Arts – Sketching
and Painting (Water Colour and Acrylics). Trained
from several Arts Institute in Calcutta and in Pondicherry.
Training received in Calligraphy writing from a well known artist Shri
Dilip Mahapatra.
Sports
/ Games –
Badminton, Athletics, Gymnastics, Swimming, Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball,
Aerobics, Yogasanas, etc. – (Pondicherry State level Badminton Player and have
won several other trophies in badminton tournaments in New Delhi)
Rock Climbing and Mountaineering
– acquired “A” Grade in Basic Mountaineering Course at Nainital in October
1995 and completed successfully Himalayan Trekking Expedition (SAR-PASS) at H.P
through YHAI in May 1996.
Attending National Integration Camps – NYP – Sadbhavana Rail Yatra in March 1994 and in May 1994.
